Sedation Dentistry
As the surgical specialists of the dental profession, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons are extensively trained in all aspects of anesthesia administration. The ability to provide patients with safe and effective anesthesia has distinguished the specialty since its inception. Today’s technology makes it possible to perform both simple and complex procedures in an office setting while maintaining maximum patient comfort and safety.
At Carolina Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Center Dr. Adams offers a full range of comfort levels with all office-based procedures. At your consultation Dr. Adams will discuss the best anesthesia options for you depending on the complexity of your procedure and level of comfort required. Utilizing gentle medications that are well tolerated and quickly metabolized, allows for safe and comfortable procedures, with a quick and smooth recovery.
During your procedure, one or more of the following may be used to eliminate discomfort and anxiety: pre-appointment sedative medication, local anesthesia, nitrous oxide (laughing gas), intravenous light sedation, and general anesthesia. Commonly, patients describe their feelings during procedures as comfortable and surprisingly pleasant.
