FAQs
What are dental implants?
Dental implants are substitutes for the roots of missing teeth. They act as an anchor for a replacement tooth or “crown” or a set of replacement teeth.
Are there different kinds of implants?
There are many shapes, sizes and brands of implants available. Dr. Adams will know which implant is the right one for you.
Do I have enough bone?
It is important for a patient to have enough bone to support the implant. If you do not have enough bone, there are many safe and effective ways to correct bone deficiency. Dr. Adams will assess this and advise you if additional bone material is needed.
Will this take a long time?
Treatment time can vary greatly depending on your needs. Each situation needs a separate evaluation; Dr. Adams and the Implant Treatment Coordinator will be able to give you a personalized timetable.
Whom should I consult for my implant treatment?
Our office is your first resource for this service. The key is the extra training, experience and credentials that Dr. Adams and his staff have acquired. Please call the office if there are any further questions you may have or to schedule a consultation.
What will my final result look like?
This is an important aspect of a dental implant treatment that often gets overlooked during the consultation phase by both the specialist and the patient. During the consultation the focus is usually placed on “how the missing teeth can be replaced” versus “what will the replaced new teeth look like”.
When discussing replacing your front (especially upper) teeth the esthetics is incredibly important. If that is the type of restoration being presented to you, ask to see “before and after” photographs of your specialist’s previous implant cases that are similar to your situation.
